Tank Liner Replacement

Recently, a local client called our CST UK Services Team with an urgent request to replace a burst sprinkler tank liner before their water supply was cut off!

The dimensions of the 15 year old FM approved liner tank were 12.5m diameter by 11.5m in height, which holds over 1,300 cubic metres of water. (Not a small tank!)

  • The client had a target of two weeks to have the liner replaced, along with some refurbished / replacement parts for the tank…
  • CST Services Team called to urgently assess the tank on the Thursday morning
  • Tank assessed and quote provided on same day
  • Liner ordered and Tank Service crew allocated to project
  • Pipework disconnected and tank drained over the weekend
  • CST Services Team onsite first thing on the Monday morning
  • Excess water drained from tank floor
  • Internal connections removed and sent for refurbishment
  • Tank unbolted and jacked down to a SAFE working height
  • Old liner cut away during the jacking down process
  • New liner delivered on 7-day lead time
  • Liner attached in situ to tank while at a safe height
  • Tank jacked back up to original height while installing refurbished / replacement parts
  • Tank external connections reinstated and tank re-filled
  • One very happy customer

As described above, due to the height of the tank in question, our method of replacing Liners, Roof Purlins, Roof sheets etc is to always unbolt the tank shell, remove panels and hydraulically jack down the tank to a SAFE working height.

This method eradicates the use of extremely high scaffold structures & ladders internally and cherry pickers externally, which requires the need to carry large / heavy materials to be installed at dangerous heights.

If your existing sprinkler tank requires any form of remedial works, replacement, ROV inspection to TB203, or just some general tank advice, our dedicated Tank Inspection & Services team CST Industries, Inc. are here to help.
